Cape Coral Burrowing Owls

After finishing up on the east coast, we headed to Cape Coral on the west coast of Florida to visit with the Burrowing Owls. They are the cutest little owls as you’ll see…

We walked up on this Burrowing Owl preening

Angry Bird version

Watching out around the burrow

Scratching an itch with open talons

Raise that foot and stomp

I see you

Watching the nearby action on the baseball field

Burrowing Owl standing outside its burrow

This pair of Burrowing Owls look unimpressed that I’m taking their photo

Standing tall

On the move running back to the burrow

Kicking up some sand upon returning to the nest

Pair of Burrowing Owls on their burrow

Well hello there

The single blade of grass looks like a head dress

You can see how small the Burrowing Owls are when compared to the grass nearby

The Owl on the left is staring at the closer one on the right

And the one on the right is looking at me. Notice the darker eyes than many of the others

Take a bow

Now that’s a happy looking Burrowing Owl

By now the sun was going down and it was time to head back to the hotel for the night. It’s always so much fun to see these cutest of all owls.
