Merritt Island and Beyond

Today we headed to meet up with our friend Pam at Merritt Island NWR. The day started out very foggy, but that made for some unusual and great photos. After going through Black Point, we headed north to see some Eagles nests in the Daytona area. It’s so great to see the come back they’re making. Keep scrolling to see our day…

This time of year with the grass all dead and brown, the Wilson’s Snipe can be hard to see

There were a lot of Great White Egrets and Snowey Egrets along the drive

When we stopped to see these two Bald Eagles sitting in a tree, we could hear an owl very close by. We followed the sound for a while…

… and Lynn found him hiding high up in a pine tree

There were quite a few Florida Scrub Jays out along SR-3

That was a great day! Beautiful weather and a lot of birds in action. Can’t wait for what comes next!
