Peaceful Waters Nature Walk
While down in South Florida last weekend we discovered Peaceful Waters Nature Walk in Wellington. It’s mostly a boardwalk through a preserve next to a huge sports complex. It is a peaceful area that was fun to go through and watch the Green Herons among some other birds…
Mottled Ducks swimming around happily
Green Heron on the hunt
Lesser Yellowlegs
Green Heron flying low over the water
Green Heron practicing its slide in home

Another Green Heron on the move
Gallinule having fun taking a bath
Green Heron hiding in the weeds
Red-winged Blackbird singing in the rain
Red-winged Blackbird taking flight
Eastern Phoebe crushing a bug that it caught
Red-shouldered Hawk watching from its hiding spot near the top of a tree
Green Heron on the hunt
Green Heron still on the hunt
A lone Limpkin was standing just off the trail as we were heading out
There are a lot of these smaller nature areas in the middle of all of the development going on. While its difficult to watch a lot of nature being eliminated for growth, it is good to see that counties are requiring these preserves to be maintained so that we have some balance between the two.
