Daytona Eagles

Today we went on a mission. To specifically look for Bald Eagles. At a nest in the Daytona area, we watched mom and dad along with their 2 Eaglets that are getting big. They haven’t branched yet, but it looks like that will happen very soon. We also checked out another area that is usually pretty good, but it was mid-day. That meant not great light and a bit light on Eagles, even though we did see a few.

The Eaglets are getting close to full size. They’re 2 months old now and are about full sized at 3 months.

As the sun was coming up, mom sat in a nearby tree.

We all need to yawn a bit while waking up.

While watching the eagles, there were quite a few American Robins moving about.

Who are you looking at?

Mom goes on the move.

One of the Eaglets exercises its wings in the face of the other while mom stands watch.

Some more wingersizing

The Eaglets with mom

The wingersizing is working! I’m catching air!

Mom looking as if to say “are you seeing all of this”?

Finally! Dad makes it back with half a fish.

Mom and Dad look around while the Eaglets wait to eat.

Everyone has an intense stare

Looking around for the Vultures and Osprey that are nearby.

An Osprey started to stray a little closer to the nest getting attention.

Dad calls outs to scare off the Osprey.

The Eaglets were left alone to continue wingersizing.

At the other location, an adult Bald Eagle flies in.

Putting on the brakes to make a landing.

An immature Bald Eagle flies past.

Immature Bald Eagle flying overhead.

I’ll just say it, Bald Eagles are awesome! Spending a day looking just for them is so much fun. I can’t wait to go back out looking for them again!
