South Apopka Eagles

This morning we headed out to go to Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive. We stopped first at the South Apopka Eagles nest and never made it past them. The adults were doing a lot of flight with beautiful take offs and landing. The Eaglet was feeding and doing a lot of wingersizing. Needless to say, it was a great day!

Welcoming the sunrise

Approaching the snag

Calling out as it lifts off

The whole family together at the nest

Diving off to go on a grass run

A dangerous place to get grass, the off ramp of a major highway

Getting low to grab the grass for the nest

Now that’s a big score!

Sharing a fish that was brought in earlier

That’s a big mouthful!

Eaglet showing of its big wings

Ducking out of the way of the Eaglets wing flapping

The Eaglet caught some air on this jump.

Eagles are so much fun to watch. This is a great time of year as the little ones are eating more and more. Soon they’ll be branching and then fledging. The fun is just getting started!
