Orlando Wetlands Park

It was going to be a very hot day so I set out early to Orlando Wetlands Park. After a 35 minute wait for my lens to defog, I started to walk around to see what was waiting for me.

A baby Alligator was sitting just off the trail

This young Raccoon took a lot of interest in me watching it…

The Raccoon thought it was hiding from me lol

A pair of Snowy Egrets were playing while searching for breakfast fish

A Snowy Egret sitting in some nice light on the back side of the park

Red Shouldered Hawks, like most other raptors, will rub their beaks on trees to clean up after eating. This one just ate a small frog.

There were several Purple Gallinules that were fighting right behind some tall grass. Perfect for blocking a shot. I focused on this one to see if they would come after it but no such luck. It flew over behind the grass with the others.

Great White Egret stayed perfectly still for the 5 minutes I watched it. Must have been a good spot for it to catch food to be so still for so long.

Overall not a bad day considering it was 90 at 10am with a heat index of 100!
