Wild Horses

Paynes Prairie near Gainesville, Florida has a herd of Wild Horses that are the descendants from the original horses brought to America by the Spanish in the late 1400’s - early 1500’s.

Playing in the tall grass

Mama, baby and their pet Cattle Egret

Friendly face rubbing…

The face rubbing got a little less friendly…

But then it ended with a kiss

At this time half the herd decided to stand in the only pathway back to the main trail

Eventually they moved back in the tall grass where they had been grazing

It was time to go and leave them to their grazing activities

This was the 2nd time I’ve seen the wild horses here. It’s always an amazing experience.
