Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive

Summer is almost over and the migratory birds will be making their way back in another month or so. Today we made a quick run through Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive. Still mostly only the summer birds but fun none the less…

Male Eastern Towhee taking flight like a missile

Immature Coopers Hawk in flight

Immature Coopers Hawk flying past

Great Blue Heron with a large fish for breakfast (and a little salad hanging on too)

Male Wood Duck. According to the Merlin app this is an Eclipse Male Wood Duck variant.

Great Blue Heron with an Armored Catfish

Great White Egret landing

Like I said, it was a quick run through. We wanted to make it out before it got too hot and the thunderstorms started. Better weather and more birds will be coming soon!
