Merritt Island from a Boat

Today we met up with our friends Pam, Shelly and Jeff. After looking for the reported Flamingos at the nudist beach on the National Seashore we went out on the water to view the refuge from a different perspective. No the Flamingos were not there, the nudists were and there are no photos of either. Here’s the photos that I did get from the boat of the wildlife…

Semipalmated Plover playing around in the washed up sea grass

Uncooperative Bald Eagles that were quite a ways off

Royal Tern circling low over the water

Cormorant making a quick move out of the path of the boat

Brown Pelicans near the entrance of Haulover Canal

Male Osprey in a nice from a of trees

Bald Eagle coming over to see what the Ospreys were up to…

…the Osprey were not happy about the Bald Eagle being there

Brown Pelican flying right at the boat

Snowy Egret relaxing in a shady area on Mosquito Lagoon

Another Snowy Egret hanging out

Osprey giving us a serious look. Check out those feet!

As always, it was great to be out in nature and spending time with friends. With the weather cooling off a bit and the migrants coming back, vacation in a few weeks will be great!
